Fleadh Cheoil 2013

Fleadh Cheoil 2013 logoThis week the world’s largest traditional Irish culture festival, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, is being held in Derry. It is the first time that it has ever been held in Northern Ireland in its 62 year history. It is a week long event, 11-18th August, and people from all over the world are expected to attetnd.

The core of the Fleadh is competition which aims to develop standards in Irish music attracting 20,000 musicians from all over the world. It also conducts many concerts, sessions, parades and céilidh.

There will be no doubt a festival mood to the city of Derry this week. The city is hosting many events ranging all across the city celebrating all aspects of Irish culture. You can check out the full programme from the Fleadh’s website by clicking here.
